Banana Breakfast Smoothie

1 banana

1 Tablespoon Chia seeds

1 Tablespoon Honey

Pinch Salt

200ml Coconut milk or milk of choice


I use coconut cream in my drinks because I don’t eat/drink dairy but you can use whichever milk you prefer. I love Ayam brand Coconut Cream, it is 100% coconut and I think the quality is superb. I empty a can of coconut cream into a 1 litre jar and add another 1 and a 1/2 cans of water to the cream. Sometimes I add more water depending on what is going into my smoothie. This smoothie is really thick so could even have more water if you wanted it a little thinner.


I use a thermomix to blend but you can use an ordinary blender. The chia seeds are best if you blend them to a meal (or buy chia seed meal if you don’t think your blender is up to this challenge!). Chia seeds absorb an enormous amount of liquid so keep this in mind when you are using them.


For this recipe, you children simply need to blend the chia seeds, add the banana, honey and salt and whiz until combined. Add the milk and whiz again and they have a quick and easy breakfast in a glass!


This smoothie has heaps of protein and healthy fats as well as quick release energy. It will easily keep them going until recess time.
